At the recent MIA-List Award Ceremony held at the Victory Services Club in London, Charlotte Box, Events Co-ordinator at the East Malling Conference Centre was awarded with an MIA-List plaque.
The MIA (Meetings Industry Association) celebrates 21 years in the meetings and events industry this year. To mark this special occasion the MIA-List was launched, 'celebrating a collection of special people selected from all sectors of the industry, their own colleagues or customers as being people that are truly an example of the passion, dedication and commitment that is mirrored throughout the industry. Awarded to those genuinely hardworking, passionate and creative, those that stand out amongst others, but ask for no thanks other than to achieve the excellence they seek.'

The East Malling Conference Centre is opening its doors on 12th October 2010 to showcase its modern purpose built conference & events facilities available to hire by event organisers. The centre is located among 200 hectares of beautiful fruit orchards & caters for all types of meetings including training, conferences, business meetings & events from 2-200 delegates. Located just 10 minutes from junction 4, M20 this idyllic location is perfect for formulating new ideas & bringing teams together.
During the open day we are pleased to announce that Hugh Fenton from Kent Speed Networking will be running a special one off speed networking event which we are hosting free of charge. (Usual price £25 per person). This is your opportunity to meet up to 10 new business contacts in a relaxed but focused environment. Hugh runs speed networking events across Kent with the aim of providing you with the opportunity for successful business meetings. Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

East Malling Conference Centre manager Cassie Luchford always believed that the venue delivered great service to its customers – and now she has industry accreditation to prove it.
The conference centre, just outside Maidstone, started 2010 in fine style by being awarded AIM (Accredited in Meetings) status by the Meetings Industry Association.
It proves beyond doubt that the centre, which boasts modern facilities and has six meeting rooms that can cater for anything from two to 200 delegates, meets a demanding ten-point checklist of criteria designed to test a venue’s procedures and levels of service.
“We are really delighted to have hit the AIM standard, particularly as only a handful of venues in Kent have so far achieved it,” said Cassie.
“We always believed we offered high levels of service and now we have the paperwork to approve it.” Reaching the AIM standard is not easy; only two or three companies in the UK have plucked the gold award from the top of the tree.
It was a good start to what looks set to be a great year for the East Malling Conference Centre, where new head chef Werner Neumann has been making a name for himself since his appointment last year.
“Feedback on the new menu has been excellent and Werner is now hard at work creating delicious hot dishes for another menu upgrade,” said Cassie.
The facilities have also been improved for 2010. A brand new audio-visual system in the main auditorium includes a four-metre screen and a new ceiling-mounted projector with widescreen capability that gives state-of-the-art results.

“It’s already looking like a very busy and exciting year for us,” Cassie commented, “and we are looking forward to demonstrating our great facilities to both old and new customers.”
East Malling Conference Centre will be hoping to attract even more new customers when it is represented at the Kent 2020 exhibition at the County Showground in April.
